  • Documentation > <span style="font-family: Varela; font-size: 13px; text-transform: uppercase; background-color: rgb(248, 248, 248);">GETTING STARTED WITH THE  LAYOUT MODES COMPARER</span>

    1. In Shared and Final Layout you can see a Message with the information about the changes made in the Final Layout

    2. Each Component changed in the Final Layout is highlighted:

    •     Updated Components have the yellow border in the Shared and Final Layouts.
    •     Deleted in the Final Layout Components are highlighted with the red Border in the Shared           Layout
    •     Created in the Final Layout Components have blue border in the Final Layout

    3. ToolTips show the information about the changed of the Component:

    • Updated Datasource item
    • The Components Properties changed in the Final Layout
    • The Placeholder that the Component was moved to

    4. With the WebEdit Button “Undo Components Changes” you can reset all changes of the specific Component.

Notice: The final Layout is configured for each language and version separately. It means that the Module will show and reset only the changes of the current version on the current language.

    How to Configure:

    1. The module extends the SelectLayout logic, so first of all you should go to the folder sitecore\shell\client\Sitecore\ExperienceEditor\Commands, deactivate the Sitecore SelectLayout.js file and activate the SelectLayout.js_layoutModesComparer (deleting the suffix _layoutModesComparer).  Now the module is ready to compare the Shared and Final Layouts.

    2. To have the ability to reset the changes for the specific components, you should assign the WebEdit Button Undo Components Changes to your components or on the base Renderings Template (selecting the in the button /sitecore/templates/System/Layout/Sections/Rendering Options/__Standard Values

    3. The changed components are highlighted with different colors:

    • blue – new component
    • red – deleted
    • yellow – updated

The colors can be configured in the Core DB in the configuration Item /sitecore/system/Modules/Layout Modes Comparer/Color Settings
