About

If you have a video channel on YouTube or several and you are looking at an easy way to show the videos on your site, the YouTube integration module might be what you are looking for. In the media library you have a YouTube folder and by typing the name of the channel, all the videos in that channel are now represented by an item and when you create a new video on your channel it automatically updates the channel in the media library.

You don't need to do extra steps to configure the module after installation. The module uses self configured Include file. You can find it at this location after successful installation: /App_Config/Include/YouTubeDataProvider.config.
    Using YouTube Integration module

Current version of the module retrieves all videos for specified user account from http://www.youtube.com repository. To get the videos you have to create an item in media library from /sitecore/templates/YouTube/YouTube Branch template. This template has one field - "Video owner". You should type a YouTube author the video of whom you want to retrieve.

    author tag

After you saved the item, you have to refresh it. To do it you can either collapse and expand a parent item or right click on the current one and select Refresh command from the context menu.

If you select a YouTube item in content tree, you can see a preview field with the video content. Video content is not stored in Sitecore media library. It is going to be transferred from the www.youtube.com site as soon as you start playing the video.

    video preview

YouTube items have an additional Url field which contains the exact address of the video. You can use that url in any Sitecore rendering to render the video on web site.
